BorgWarner Expands High-Voltage Inverter Program with Major European Automaker

BorgWarner has secured a significant extension of multiple high-volume high-voltage inverter programs with a major European automotive OEM, further cementing its standing in advanced power electronics solutions for electrified mobility. These projects include new designs of inverters for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and 800V BEVs, and production is expected to start from 2029. In the case of PHEVs, BorgWarner will supply an enhanced high-voltage inverter featuring its ASIC technology already used in its 800V inverter platform. The new design is fully compatible with the automaker’s next-generation vehicle operating system, providing enhanced power electronics control and efficient system integration. For 800V battery-electric vehicles, the company will supply traction inverters featuring its latest Viper silicon carbide (SiC) power switches and a dual-sided-cooled power module, delivering improved efficiency while maintaining cost competitiveness.
