HERE Technologies has announced an expanded strategic collaboration with luxury automaker JLR. The joint initiative is engineered to optimize charging infrastructure accessibility and elevate the on-road experience for current plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) owners.
To refine modern e-mobility workflows, HERE has been supplying advanced, intelligent EV routing engines directly within JLR’s in-vehicle infotainment displays. This system blends live charge-point telemetry with predictive network availability metrics, allowing drivers to streamline charging intervals, save transit time, and plan long-distance journeys with confidence.
Building upon this technological foundation, the latest integration bridges HERE’s native EV Charge Point software ecosystem directly with prominent eMobility Service Providers (eMSPs). This connection links motorists to JLR’s broader public charging framework, effectively mitigating range anxiety and reducing the operational friction frequently associated with public charging networks.

Geographic Rollout and Hardware Backwards-Compatibility
The software update will follow a phased international deployment pipeline, launching first across the United Kingdom and continental Europe before expanding into the Australian and New Zealand automotive markets.
Demonstrating a strong corporate commitment to asset lifecycle support, the updated EV Charge Point capability will not be restricted to new inventory. The feature will become available via over-the-air updates for existing JLR PHEV and BEV models manufactured from 2020 onward-including the Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar luxury product portfolios-as well as the highly anticipated, next-generation Range Rover Electric.
Shared Vision for Connected E-Mobility
Mark Camilleri, Director of Services, JLR, said: “We are committed to continually optimizing the experience our clients have out on the road. Our collaboration with HERE ensures owners of existing Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery PHEV models, and Jaguar PHEV and BEV models, can conveniently locate the right chargers at a time and place that suits their lifestyle.”
Gino Ferru, SVP and General Manager EMEA at HERE Technologies, commented: “We are excited to deepen our long-term collaboration with JLR and introduce a feature that will help vehicle owners easily locate compatible charge points, reducing ambiguity and complexity. We’re looking forward to continuing to make advancements in this space by addressing the challenges EV drivers still face today with precise, real-time charge point information.”
