DigiKey has announced the release of an enhanced version of its eDesignSuite platform, which has been developed in association with STMicroelectronics (ST) and Ultra Librarian. The enhanced version is aimed at making the electronics design process easier and faster, allowing electronics design engineers to design, simulate, validate, and procure components in a seamless manner.
eDesignSuite is a free browser-based solution developed by ST, which does not require any license fees and is suitable for a variety of applications, including power management, signal conditioning, and NFC/RFID design. The enhanced version of the solution offers tighter integration with simulation tools, component libraries, and procurement, thus bridging the gap between design and procurement.
Through this partnership, design engineers can now enjoy enhanced simulation, real-time optimization of the bill of materials, and seamless multi-CAD export. The solution enables design engineers to procure components from DigiKey, thus reducing the time-to-market while ensuring design accuracy and efficiency.

“DigiKey is excited to collaborate with ST and Ultra Librarian to bring engineers a unified online tool that accelerates their design process,” said Nick D. Olson, supplier business development manager at DigiKey. “The deep integration within the eDesignSuite environment gives users advanced BOM verification, enhanced simulation insight, and a direct path from design to purchase, all of which help bring new products to market faster.”
The enhanced eDesignSuite also provides several advanced features, which include thermal and electrical simulation capabilities using SIMPLIS/SIMetrix. This provides a better validation of the performance of the design. Real-time BOM refinement with live impact analysis provides immediate insight into the performance impact of changes. Furthermore, the ability to export schematics and BOMs in formats compatible with OrCAD, Altium, and Eagle CAD tools provides flexibility in design environments.
This new release makes ST the first integrated circuit vendor to provide a completely integrated design-to-purchase experience in association with DigiKey. With its comprehensive workflow, the enhanced platform enables engineers to evaluate operating conditions, validate component choices, finalize schematics and BOMs, and transition to procurement—all within a unified interface.
“This valuable collaboration with DigiKey and Ultra Librarian extends eDesignSuite from a powerful design tool into a unified design-to-purchase environment,” said Patrizia Bellitto, SW system tools – appl. manager at STMicroelectronics. “By connecting simulation, component selection, CAD export and purchasing in a single browser-based environment, we’re simplifying the engineer’s journey and making it easier to design with ST technologies.”
“Ultra Librarian is focused on simplifying the path from design to procurement,” said Gopu Achath, vice president of technology at Ultra Librarian. “Through our integration with STMicroelectronics eDesignSuite, engineers can now seamlessly access component data and upload BOMs to DigiKey, creating a faster and more connected design environment.”
