Ionworks and NOVONIX Partners to Advance Battery Development

Ionworks Technologies Inc., has announced its new collaboration with NOVONIX Battery Technology Solutions (BTS), a global leader that specializes in battery materials, research services, and testing technologies. The collaboration is intended for speeding up the battery development services with higher emphasis on modeling, experimental data, and combined knowledge of materials and cell design.

The collaboration unites Ionworks’ simulation platform with NOVONIX BTS’s strengths in battery materials research, cell testing, and cell prototyping solutions. By “tying high-fidelity experimental data directly to predictive, physics-based models,” the two companies aim to assist engineering teams “in determining trade-offs earlier in the development cycle, thereby reducing technical risk and increasing confidence as a program moves from an early concept through validation and scale.”

Due to their increasing use in mission-critical applications and products, battery developers and designers are getting into a situation where there is a requirement to achieve increased battery performance, reliability, and manufacturability over a shorter timeframe. The collaborative solution from these two companies aims to attain faster development, a deeper understanding of factors affecting battery performance, and a quicker transition from a lab-based scenario to a real-world setting.

“Battery innovation increasingly depends on the ability to connect data, physics, and decision-making in a unified workflow,” said Valentin Sulzer, Founder and CEO at Ionworks. “Working with NOVONIX BTS allows us to align advanced simulation with rigorous testing and materials insight, helping teams make better-informed decisions earlier in development-particularly where performance and reliability are mission-critical.”

“Understanding how materials and cell designs influence the cell and battery system as a whole is critical to delivering confident and reliable answers for our customers,” said Dr. Stephen Glazier, Director of Cell Technology at NOVONIX BTS. “This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enabling our R&D Services customers with tools and insight that support faster development and more predictable outcomes.”
