Ouster, Inc., a global leader in sensing and perception technologies for Physical AI, announced the completion of its acquisition of StereoLabs SAS (“StereoLabs”), a recognized innovator in AI-based vision and perception solutions. The transaction brings complementary hardware and software competencies together to create the industry’s first unified sensing and perception platform purpose-built for Physical AI, incorporating high-performance digital lidar, stereo cameras, AI compute, advanced sensor fusion and perception software, and state-of-the-art AI models in one scalable architecture.
StereoLabs, incorporated in 2010, has developed a formidable reputation as a supplier of cutting-edge 3D vision solutions of the highest quality to sophisticated perception systems. To date, the company has supplied more than 90,000 ZED stereo cameras to over 10,000 clients worldwide. Ouster has made a commitment to provide continuity of products, customers, and the worldwide perception software developer community that is very large and active. StereoLabs will be managed by the co-founders Cecile Schmollgruber, Edwin Azzam, and Olivier Braun following the acquisition.
“The future of autonomy isn’t about choosing between vision or lidar, it’s about unifying them,” said StereoLabs CEO Cecile Schmollgruber. “By combining StereoLabs’ AI vision with Ouster’s digital lidar, we are creating the world’s most capable perception platform to directly address customers’ primary sensor fusion requirements and enable machines to sense, think, act, and learn in the physical world.”
