Mativ Holdings, a global leader in specialty materials, announced an equity investment in Miru Smart Technologies, an innovator in smart window technology. The investment deepens the companies’ strategic partnership and supports Miru’s preparation for commercial-scale production of its dynamic electrochromic window (“eWindow”) technology. The move advances joint efforts as technical validation and commercial readiness continue, with a clear focus on automotive applications.
Building on years of successful co-development through Mativ’s advanced polymer film brand, Argotec, the expanded agreement marks a transition from development to alignment on high-volume manufacturing and market deployment.
Since entering an initial joint development agreement in 2024, Mativ and Miru have achieved multiple technical and industry milestones. These include the development of one of the world’s largest compound-curved electrochromic sunroofs, measuring 1.5 meters by 1.6 meters, as well as the fulfillment of Miru’s first commercial purchase orders from leading glass manufacturers in 2025.

“Mativ pioneers engineered materials designed to tackle the world’s most complex challenges through innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability,” said Shruti Singhal, President and CEO of Mativ. “Building on our strong 2025 performance, this investment underscores our confidence in Miru’s technology and our shared goal to establish eWindows, integrated with Argotec technology, as the global standard for energy-efficient glazing.”
“Miru’s growth reflects the work of translating breakthrough technology into a production-ready vehicle platform,” said Curtis Berlinguette, Founder and CEO of Miru. “This progress has been shaped by close collaboration with our partners, and Mativ has played an important role in that journey. With this investment, we strengthen our manufacturing capabilities and supply chain to bring the next generation of smart windows to market.”
Miru’s electrochromic eWindow technology, combined with Argotec’s optically clear polymer films, delivers a distinctive neutral tint, enhanced visual clarity, and advanced solar heat control. Together, these capabilities can help extend electric vehicle range by up to 10%, while improving passenger comfort and energy efficiency.
Through its collaboration with Mativ-recently showcased at Glasstec 2024 and Glass Performance Days 2025-Miru is accelerating the transition of smart window innovations into scalable, manufacturable solutions. These advancements are positioned to serve a broad range of markets, including automotive, building and construction, and other industrial applications.
