Pioneer Launches PRYMUS to Deliver Energy-at-the-Edge AI Power

Pioneer Power Solutions, Inc., a leader in the design, manufacture, service and integration of distributed energy resources, power generation equipment and mobile electric vehicle (“EV”) charging solutions, announced the launch of PRYMUS, a breakthrough mobile power delivery platform, a scaled evolution of the e-Boost platform. PRYMUS is designed to address the urgent and rapidly expanding demand for distributed MW-scale on-site across a broad spectrum of industrial markets, especially the power needed to support the acceleration of artificial intelligence (“AI”) and power-hungry data centers more generally.

PRYMUS: Energy-at-the-Edge, Fast and Scalable

PRYMUS is a distributed power package that delivers scalable, pre-engineered energy blocks of 1 MW up to 10 MW. Its primary differentiators are speed and mobility. PRYMUS can be delivered and fully operational at a site in approximately six months, drastically reducing the typical two- to three-year timeline for securing utility-grade power. This fast-track deployment is essential for modular data centers testing new server racks with the latest AI chipsets, including next-generation NVIDIA AI chipsets, all of which require ultra-stable power delivery and rapid response to extreme load variability.

PRYMUS also supports industrial automation and on-premise AI compute required by sectors such as healthcare, pharma, finance, research institutions and government, where data privacy regulations, strict compliance and IP protection necessitate local data processing.

Addressing Urgent Market Needs

PRYMUS is entering a market defined by urgent need. Global power demand for data centers is projected to increase by up to 165% by 2030, putting immense pressure on traditional utility timelines. Specifically, the global Modular Data Center (MDC) market, driven by demands for rapid deployment and edge computing, is forecast to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of over 17% and is expected to exceed $164 billion by 2035.

Hybrid Power Architecture

PRYMUS integrates mobile prime generators fueled by flexible options including NG, RNG, LPG, rLPG, diesel and renewable diesel, with Mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems (mBESS), paralleling switchgear and advanced controls. This hybrid approach ensures robust base load power while mBESS actively manages the instantaneous spikes inherent in AI workloads.

PRYMUS is Based on e-Boost Technology with Advanced Microgrid Features

Pioneer leverages its extensive experience in backup power, prime power generation, microgrid deployment and e-Boost’s mobile charging expertise to build PRYMUS systems to be pre-engineered for inherent redundancy and reliability. The systems can also be reconfigured into permanent microgrids or standby power blocs once utility power is established. The platform is purpose-built for critical, power-intensive sectors, including modular and containerized data centers, industrial manufacturing, specialized testing facilities, healthcare providers and telecommunications.

“The dissonance between the supply and demand for electrical power has created an ever-widening gap,” commented Nathan Mazurek, Chairman and CEO of Pioneer. “PRYMUS combines our decades of expertise in distributed prime power and microgrids with mobile innovations from e-Boost to deliver a differentiated solution. We are not just selling power; we intend to provide adaptable energy resiliency that puts power where it’s needed in months, not years, directly fueling the next phase of America’s technological growth.”

PRYMUS: At-a-glance

“Our pedigree in deploying complex microgrid projects equips us to engineer PRYMUS with proven, resilient architecture right out of the box,” added Geo Murickan, President of Pioneer eMobility. “By combining multi-fuel prime generation with mBESS for dynamic load management, we strive to deliver a superior power quality package capable of meeting the rigorous demands of next-generation AI chipsets and liquid-cooled systems, effectively transforming power generation into a mobile, plug-and-play solution.”
