GlobalFoundries (GF) and Navitas Semiconductor are excited to announce their long-term partnership. They aim to enhance U.S. innovation and manufacturing in gallium nitride (GaN) technology. This collaboration will develop next-generation GaN solutions. These solutions aim to meet the needs of high-power markets. They require great power density and energy efficiency. Key areas of focus will include AI datacenters, high-performance computing, grid and energy infrastructure, and industrial electrification. We’re excited about the positive impact this partnership will bring to these key areas.
Navitas Semiconductor leads in GaN and high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) technologies. They have rolled out GaN solutions in several markets. These areas are mobile fast charging, consumer electronics, performance computing, electric vehicles, industrial equipment, and energy storage. Navitas is focused on speeding up the adoption of GaN. This is important as the demand for high-power solutions grows in key sectors. GF will boost this initiative by using its strong reputation as a trusted global foundry partner. This will ensure reliable, high-quality production at scale.
Next-generation GaN technology will be made at GF’s Burlington, Vermont facility. This site is known for its strong focus on high-voltage GaN-on-Silicon manufacturing. Navitas’ GaN technology and device design leadership will be integrated throughout development. Joint development is planned to begin in early 2026, with volume production expected to follow later that year.
By pairing GF’s world-class manufacturing capabilities with Navitas’ trailblazing GaN innovation, the companies aim to deliver the most advanced, secure and scalable GaN platform available. The partnership provides customers with a fully U.S.-based pathway for GaN manufacturing to support national security interests, strengthen global competitiveness and advance decarbonization across next-generation compute and energy systems.
