SandboxAQ Partners with DoW’s Defense Innovation Unit on Magnetic Navigation

SandboxAQ announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Department of War’s (DoW) Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to participate in the Transition of Quantum Sensing (TQS) program. This initiative is designed to accelerate the development and field testing of next-generation Magnetic Anomaly Navigation (MagNav) solutions that enhance autonomous system capabilities across the U.S. military.

The TQS program is part of DIU’s Emerging Technologies portfolio. It speeds up the use of commercial quantum sensing technologies. This will help improve Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) resilience. This matters in places where Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) might be weak, disrupted, or absent. SandboxAQ will use its AQNav software for dependable, signal-independent navigation through this partnership. The company will show AQNav in real-world settings. They will also build detailed performance datasets to meet DoW’s operational needs.

“AQNav represents a vital, non-GPS-reliant path for PNT, and has proven its readiness for expanded military demonstrations and evaluation across mission-critical platforms,” said Luca Ferrara, General Manager of AQNav, SandboxAQ. “We’re demonstrating AQNav’s performance capabilities across DIU-relevant use cases to empower the DoW to solve complex PNT challenges with best-in-class technologies at its disposal.”

By joining the TQS program, SandboxAQ reinforces its commitment to advancing quantum-enhanced navigation tools that support mission readiness and operational superiority in GPS-challenged environments.
