Pony.ai, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced its official entry into the Singapore market through a strategic partnership with ComfortDelGro, the country’s largest transportation service provider. Together, the companies will deploy autonomous vehicles to support daily commuting and enhance the city-state’s smart mobility vision.
The initial rollout will begin in the Punggol district, operating on fixed routes, with services expected to launch in the coming months following regulatory approval.
This initiative supports Singapore’s national plan to integrate autonomous mobility solutions into its public transportation ecosystem, supplementing existing taxis, private-hire cars, and MRT lines. It also addresses a long-standing challenge: meeting off-peak travel demand despite ongoing driver shortages.
The collaboration builds on a strong foundation. Pony.ai and ComfortDelGro first signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July 2024, formalizing a strategic partnership to accelerate large-scale autonomous vehicle deployment. This was followed by a pilot program in Guangzhou in March 2025, which delivered valuable insights for expanding operations into Singapore.
In June 2025, Singapore’s Ministry of Transport announced plans to deploy AVs in public housing estates by year-end, beginning with Punggol. This program marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey to enhance urban mobility with sustainable, technology-driven solutions.

Dr. James Peng, Founder and CEO of Pony.ai, said:
“We are thrilled to introduce Pony.ai’s advanced autonomous driving technology to Singapore. By delivering safe, comfortable, and efficient autonomous mobility services, we are committed to enhancing local residents’ daily commutes and advancing the nation’s smart mobility vision.”
Mr. Cheng Siak Kian, Managing Director and Group CEO, ComfortDelGro, added:
“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Pony.ai to bring safe, innovative and reliable autonomous mobility services to communities in Singapore. Our successful collaboration in Guangzhou has provided a strong foundation for this next phase, combining Pony.ai’s proven technology with our operational expertise and infrastructure capabilities. This partnership supports our vision for sustainable and intelligent mobility solutions that will benefit our communities.”
A Proven Global Leader in Autonomous Driving
Pony.ai currently operates fully driverless Robotaxi services across China’s four tier-1 cities-Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen-covering over 2,000 square kilometers. The company has accumulated more than 50 million autonomous kilometers worldwide, with user satisfaction consistently rated above 4.8 out of 5. Registered users on its ride-hailing platform grew 136% year-over-year in Q2, underscoring strong consumer adoption.
Globally, Pony.ai is expanding its footprint through partnerships with leading transportation providers. In recent weeks, the company announced a collaboration with Qatar’s Mowasalat “Karwa”, strengthening its presence in the Middle East alongside partnerships with Dubai’s RTA and Uber. In addition, it is conducting on-road testing in Luxembourg with Emile Weber and operating 24/7 autonomous driving trials in Seoul’s Gangnam district.
Looking ahead, Peng emphasized Singapore’s strategic importance:
“Singapore has world-class transportation infrastructure, and its government is very supportive in developing autonomous mobility to help build a green and sustainable future. We see great potential in the local market as well as the broader Southeast Asian markets. Combining our technology with ComfortDelGro‘s extensive local expertise, we hope to use Singapore as a launchpad to explore more opportunities in the region.”
