Tenstorrent announced that it has acquired Blue Cheetah Analog Design, a start-up building highly-customized analog mixed-signal IP. Blue Cheetah has been an integral vendor for Tenstorrent, developing and delivering advanced interconnects for their chiplet-based products. The acquisition follows last year’s announcement that Tenstorrent is licensing Blue Cheetah’s die-to-die interconnect IP for its AI and RISC-V chiplet solutions.
Blue Cheetah brings a wealth of analog mixed-signal expertise that will deliver high impact for the current chiplet solutions on Tenstorrent’s roadmap. As advanced interconnects and other analog/mixed-signal components have proven to be increasingly critical to the performance and efficiency of AI systems, acquiring Blue Cheetah brings these critical capabilities in-house to Tenstorrent. The acquisition further accelerates Tenstorrent’s chiplet vision of creating an open chiplet ecosystem, with open interconnects optimized for each specific chiplet socket.
Blue Cheetah has cultivated an impressive executive and engineering leadership team with years of experience and expertise in high-speed interconnect and IP. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Dr. Elad Alon – an expert in analog/mixed-signal design, and the technical lead of the Bunch of Wires PHY standard. The team includes a group of experts and senior engineers with unique expertise in both traditional circuit design as well as design automation. Blue Cheetah engineers bring strong capabilities as well as extensive experience in developing D2D, DDR, SerDes and other technologies critical to Tenstorrent’s chiplet and product plans.

Blue Cheetah currently provides its chiplet interconnect IP solutions in a wide variety of foundries and process nodes. Blue Cheetah’s BlueLynx D2D interconnect subsystem IP provides physical (PHY) and link layer chiplet interfaces compatible with both Open Compute Project (OCP) Bunch of Wires (BoW) as well as Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe).
“Blue Cheetah shares our vision to build simple and comparable chiplet ecosystems,” said Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent. “We’re looking forward to the next chapter of accelerating AI with open standards and high-performance IP.”
