Nexteer Automotive has announced the launch of three advanced driveline technologies engineered to meet the specific performance demands of electric vehicles (EVs) while delivering a premium driving experience across all vehicle types. Designed with a focus on long-term durability, refined NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) performance, and lightweight efficiency, these next-generation solutions enable automakers to offer smoother, quieter, and more responsive driving across a broad spectrum of applications.
The newly unveiled driveline components include Nexteer’s optimized Face Spline Axle, innovative 8-Ball Joint, and Premium Double Offset Joint. Additionally, the company has expanded its Cross-Glide Joint line to offer a broader range of sizes, extending the flexibility of its driveline portfolio.
Nexteer’s Face Spline Axle delivers a refined and quiet ride while simplifying integration across diverse vehicle architectures. The patented design works in harmony with existing Face Spline Hubs, eliminating click noise during startup and contributing, in some instances, to overall vehicle weight reduction—an important factor in achieving optimal EV performance.

The new 8-Ball Joint leverages a reengineered structure to deliver more than 10% weight savings compared to its 6-ball counterpart while maintaining equivalent strength. This enhancement provides a valuable solution for vehicle manufacturers striving to balance performance and efficiency.
The Premium Double Offset Joint is designed for smooth torque transfer and reduced NVH. Leveraging advanced manufacturing techniques to improve the outer race ball track and sphere diameter, the result is greater dimensional precision, enabling improved acceleration and quieter operation—even under high torque conditions and aggressive steering angles.
Nexteer’s expanded Cross-Glide Joint range supports rear applications with a compact, lightweight design that delivers industry-leading power density. Its optimized performance characteristics—including lower lash, enhanced load-stroke efficiency, and superior NVH refinement—further elevate ride quality and responsiveness.
“Electrified vehicles present new challenges to driveline systems, including higher torque loads, packaging constraints and consumer expectations for a quiet and refined driving experience,” said Robin Milavec, Nexteer Automotive President, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Board member. “Our latest driveline innovations are designed to meet these requirements with the precision, durability and versatility built on decades of global driveline experience, ultimately delivering a premium driving experience for any vehicle propulsion system – from internal combustion to hybrid and electric.”
