nShift, the global leader in delivery management software, announces that PostNord Sweden is the first Swan Ecolabelled e-commerce carrier in the Nordics. The Nordic Ecolabel is now clearly visible in nShift ‘s carrier library and can be displayed in the checkout.
With over 1000 carriers, nShift offers its customers access to the world’s most comprehensive carrier library with deliveries to 190 countries. The Swan label, which can be included in the checkout, enables e-commerce companies in Sweden to offer a delivery choice that ensures reduced climate emissions through strict requirements for energy efficiency, renewable fuels and electric vehicles.
The Swan is the official and most well-known ecolabel in the Nordics, an independent and third-party certified ecolabel that looks at all relevant environmental parameters in a product’s life cycle. The Nordic countries are often considered leaders in sustainability, as shown by their positions in the Europe Sustainable Development Report 2021 ( Finland 1st, Sweden 2nd, Denmark 3rd and Norway 5th).
Mathias Krümmel, CEO of PostNord Sweden: “Today, the checkout risks misleading consumers with unclear environmental claims. PostNord has been waiting for third-party certified labels that are reliable. With the Nordic Ecolabel, PostNord can finally show its ambitious sustainability work and success in its green transition towards the consumer.”

The Nordic Ecolabel verifies that logistics suppliers meet strict requirements for climate performance and high energy efficiency as well as employment conditions in accordance with collective agreements or the equivalent. The Nordic Ecolabel includes 20 criteria for the carrier’s entire transport network. This includes not only PostNord Sweden’s own vehicle fleet, but also that of the company’s transport suppliers. It is also a requirement that a high percentage of the new vehicles purchased by the company must be powered by electricity or biogas.
Sean Sherwin-Smith , Product Director Post-purchase at nShift. “Consumers demand as sustainable a shopping experience as possible. When choosing a delivery, they must be able to quickly identify which option is best from an environmental perspective and be sure that they can trust the carrier’s claims about sustainable deliveries. Therefore, we are pleased that PostNord Sweden is in our carrier library and extremely proud that it is the first in our library to be certified with the Nordic Ecolabel. The Nordic Ecolabel provides the credibility that customers demand, and nShift Checkout allows that credibility to be clearly displayed in the webshop’s checkout.”
Per Sandell , head of the Finance and Logistics business area at Svanen, says: “Being able to choose more sustainable delivery options is important to many consumers. But consumers are confused by various green claims and messages at the checkout. Therefore, the Nordic Swan label, as the Nordics’ official environmental label, is a welcome guidance for consumers. With the Swan label in the checkout, the complexity of choosing a delivery is simplified. Consumers can thus contribute to the necessary green transformation of the transport sector.”
