Chery’s Superfactory, the world’s most advanced automotive manufacturing facility, is partnering with ForwardX Robotics, a leading autonomous mobile robot (AMR) supplier, to introduce a breakthrough intelligent automotive manufacturing solution . The aim of their cooperation is to rationalize operations, increase efficiency and strengthen automation in the assembly part of the factory.
Chery is a pioneer in this industry and was one of the first to use visually guided AMR robots for automated material movement in the assembly hall. As part of the first phase of their rollout, more than a hundred AMR devices were integrated with the factory’s Logistics Execution Systems (LES) software to enable unattended material movement between the various assembly lines.
On the finishing line, Flex 300-L AMR robots from the ForwardX company transport material from the storage location to individual operator workstations. In the interior line and door line operations, ForwadX’s AMR Lynx U1000 autonomous tractors integrate with the SPS system and transport materials from the stocking area to line workstations. In the chassis production process, the Chery superfactory recycles old racks and uses ForwardX Apex 2000 autonomous forklifts , promoting an ecological approach and reducing waste.
Since implementing intelligent manufacturing solutions in collaboration with ForwardX Robotics, the Chery superfactory has managed to reduce logistics costs per vehicle by an impressive 10%. In addition, the system keeps the excess inventory rate on the line below 15% and the assembly error rate below two per thousand vehicles. By effectively managing inventory levels and eliminating assembly errors, the new distribution process minimizes the risk of production line downtime, resulting in a 200% increase in efficiency and a significant reduction in operating costs.
Leveraging ForwardX Robotics‘ innovative solutions has enabled Chery to accelerate its transformation into a global technology company that remains true to its goal of creating an intelligent, automated and digitized logistics factory.
