Toyota Motor North America announces executive shift

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) announced that effective July 1, 2023, Shinichi Yasui , Toyota Motor North Executive Vice President of Research and Development America, will become Project Manager of the Hydrogen Factory at Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC).

The TMC Hydrogen Factory is a new organization dedicated to accelerating customer-focused product development and manufacturing of fuel cells and related hydrogen products. The goal is to align business strategy, development, production, sales, and marketing under one roof to drive faster decision-making and stronger partnerships with rapidly expanding markets (including China and Europe), as well as drive sustainable marketing.

Yasui, a 35-year Toyota veteran, has been a member of Toyota‘s North America Executive Committee since 2017 and has led the company’s R&D operations in the region. Yasui joined TMC in 1988 as an engineer, developing airbag, seating and seat belt systems. Over the years, he held various engineering and product planning roles, and in 2013, he became chief engineer for all Corolla models. In 2016, he was named executive general manager of product planning at TMC’s midsize vehicle business, before becoming executive vice president of TMNA. Yasui has an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Meiji University in Tokyo and an Executive MBA from the University of Michigan.

The company will share information about Yasui’s successor and details about his new role at a later date.
