Firefly Aerospace Completes Acquisition of SciTec for Defense Innovation

Firefly Aerospace announced the successful completion of its acquisition of SciTec, Inc., a leader in advanced national security technologies, in a deal comprising cash and Firefly common stock. The acquisition, first announced on October 5, marks a major expansion of Firefly’s space and defense portfolio by integrating SciTec’s AI-enabled defense software and big data processing capabilities with Firefly’s hardware solutions across launch, lunar, and in-space missions. “Today marks the next era of Firefly with full-service hardware and software for our space and defense customers,” said Jason Kim, CEO of Firefly Aerospace. “Together, Firefly and SciTec bring the talent and tech to support the most critical national security programs and deliver the future of edge processing for dynamic space operations.”

The acquisition enhances Firefly’s ability to serve national security missions such as missile defense, space domain awareness, and autonomous command and control. It also adds over 475 technical experts, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust government contracts. Jim Lisowski, CEO of SciTec, added, “We’re proud to officially join the Firefly team. Together we’ll be unstoppable.” This move positions Firefly as a comprehensive provider of integrated hardware and software solutions for critical space and defense operations.
